Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Katarina Jakubcekova and this is my CAS blog. I am a Slovak high school student who has been attending the American international school, QSIB, for already 3 years. Since I enjoy undertaking new challenges, I decided to take a full IB Diploma. As an IB student, I have gotten several plans for meeting criteria of CAS, which is indeed a significant part of IB philosophy.
For the ACTION section, I am planning to join our school volleyball team as well as basketball team, which will give me an opportunity to not only build team spirit, but also to increase awareness of my strengths and weaknesses. For the SERVICE part I
have decided to engage in baby-sitting as well as in events such as
"Pancakes with Santa" or Christmas Bazaar where I could interact and play with children from
different parts of the world. Also, I would like to become one of the
leaders of our school voluntary program called "House" because it would
allow me to demonstrate, improve and develop some skills as well as gain some experience.
This year I would like to help children who are suffering from cancer
in our local hospital, since I believe it is necessary to make their
life at least a little bit happier. Moreover, I am also thinking about joining Advisory and Prom Committee as they might have a positive impact on development of leadership and organizational skills. At the beginning of the second year of IB program, I am hoping to attend a trip to the small historical Slovak town called Banska Štiavnica where I could help with the church beautification. For the last section of CAS, which is CREATIVITY I
am planning to participate at the Model United Nations this year.
Personally, I am very excited about BratMUN 2012 conference that will be
held in the National Council of Slovak Republic, as it will allow me to
improve my negotiating and decision-making skills as well as it will raise global awareness. Creativity will also be tight to the third part of our House group project called "Wishes come true!"
I'm looking forward to CAS!
Katarina Jakubcekova
